Another Newbie. [Jun. 16th, 2007|02:58 pm]

Hello everyone!!

I am almost nineteen years old. My mother, sister, and I are all overweight. While I was at my first year of college I went to the gym all the time, but since I wasn't eating the best (darn that college food) I did not loose that much, I think I lost like 10 pounds. So I have been home for the summer for a while now and I miss the gym. So I finally convinced my mom and sister to go to curves with me.

I am very happy about it since im eighteen im free for the summer since my mom bought a membership. And when I go back to school my mom and sister promise to keep going, and I am going to go with some friends from school that also go to their local curves.

I had my first workout yesterday, and since I havent done major working out (nothing more than walking, biking, swimming, no weights or machines) I am actually sore a little bit in my arms. So I am very happy to be working out again.

My mom and I are going to Arizona next week, so I hope she doesnt slack off and not go. Because we have our travel passes already that allows us to use their curves. Also we are going to Seattle in August, so I want to go when we are there too. Im worried that my mom won't want too since we are on a trip. But I hope she will like is so much that she will want to go.

My sister is doing her first work out on monday afte work I think. (My sister is eighteen years older than me and has kids.) Then, my moms first time is going to be Tuesday. Hopefully we will all go together on Wednesday.

I am so excited!

I think I am going to buy the membership book on monday. Does anyone have that and have you found anything extremely helpful in it?

How is everyone else doing?

Anyone doing anything else outside of curves that is helping them to lose weight efficiently?

Thanks guys, I am very happy to be here!

(no subject) [Jun. 11th, 2007|11:52 pm]

I started going to Curves a couple weeks ago after not having any sort of regular exercise since March. Inbetween the machines I've been using the platforms to run in place - I had no problems until last Friday, when I started to feel a small amount of pain in my legs. Today though, I experienced a very large amount of pain in my knees and ankles while running from the very beginning of the workout. I told the instructor and she said that it was because the muscles in my legs just weren't strong enough yet, and that I should just walk in place instead and slowly increase speed. So I spend the rest of the time on the platforms walking/light stepping, but pretty much everything other than normal walking hurt.

I don't really like her explaination - I had been running a couple summers ago after even less exercise and never experienced join pain. What could I have done to my knees/ankles? Could it be related to the platforms? (I haven't tried running on the floor/ground) Did she give me good advice?

Thank you.

New [May. 27th, 2007|11:04 pm]
I am new to LJ and am loving ti so far. I am manager of our local Curves. And love it so much. I have lost almost 50 pounds. But it seems like lately it is getting harder for me to be motivated to lose more and to workout.

I'm trying to think of some new moves to do on the recovery station. I have just been jogging in place but I'm trying to mix things up and try some other kind of cardio...
what do you guys do?

newbie -from Curves Delaware, OH [May. 10th, 2007|11:18 am]

Hey guys, I'm Rae. I'm 24 yrs old and started Curves the last week of March. I did my first measurements yesterday. I lost 3.25 inches, and my body fat went down almost 1%. I did gain a pound though. I'm surprised I had that much progress especially since for the past 2 weeks I've done some major depression eating. (bad, I know...) Anyway, nice to meet ya.

Howdy! [May. 3rd, 2007|12:09 pm]

I'm Kendra. I live in Southern Utah and currently weigh 204 pounds.  I want to join the Navy, though, and am joining Curves today, as well as dieting, to get to the requisite 149 pounds or lower.  I plan to be very active in this community and if anyone would like some more up-to-date and in-depth information on my quest to join the Navy you can check out my LJ dedicated to it. :)  http://sailornelson.livejournal.com/

I'm Betty.  I'm 27 years old.  I live in Long Beach California(Southern California).  I was married 7 months ago and packed on a few pounds since then.  I weight 210 lbs and am doing the fitness study to feel better about myself and my body.

I just started the fitness study at my local Curves.  Today was my first workout and I can really feel it!  I have loads of energy and just want to go workout again.

My next workout is Thursday 9am!

New member! :) [Mar. 12th, 2007|09:11 pm]

I went ahead and joined today and had my first workout.

I think I am going to enjoy it. I plan on going Mon, Weds & fri after work.

I couldn;t find my old workout clothes so I had to stop at Target on the way there to get some. Since I wasn't going by home first, I had to be a dork and ask for a scissors to cut off the tags, and then use the target bag for my temporary workout duffle. LOL

Eh well. :-) The workout went quite well. This may be something I can stick with. :-)

Hi all,

I am planning on joining Curves tomorrow. I really need to get fitter and lose at least 20 pounds. Does Curves have a weight loss program? The woman I talked to wasn't sure becaue she'd jsut started working there.. and she'd been a member for 3 years, but never did any of the nutrition stuff.

I live in the Bay Area of California, and am looking forward to getting thinner and ready for summer. :-)

Hi there...my name is Cassondra, I live in Southern California. I did the 21 day study at my local CURVES, and I absolutely loved it. My younger sister and I joined and got the membership. I am glad that I did, and I hope I can lose some weight and get in shape. It's great to know that there are other people out there in the same situation I am in. I hope to be able to get good advice from other Curves memembers. I hope everyone is still doing great in the program!!

My goal so far is to lose 20 pounds, so I will keep an update on that!
